A continuous introspective journey through meditative sceneries in search of a deeper connection with the very depths of space, nature and time.
Late summer 2017 I traveled to the dramatic volcanic island of Lanzarote, Spain.
I wanted to experience the intimidating volcanic scene firsthand to document the melancholic landscapes on tactile film. Deserted volcanic landscapes reminds us of the early days of our earth. The time before 'life' as we know existed. It's funny how we experience these landscapes as something 'surreal'. Seen from a broader perspective, this scenery, is actually very real. Volcanic landscapes existed long before any form of life, and society as it evolved towards today, is actually more 'surreal' and a very unique manifestation in the part of the universe we know.
Accompanied by water that crashed into the earth from other worlds, earths volcanic activity in it's early years has been crucial for the life as we know today. Enriching the earths surface on which we live with a melange of life essential raw materials and minerals. Bringing water vapor into the atmosphere. Volcanos connects us to other planets, and the energetic center of our own.
It showcases historical geological events taking place for the past millions of years.
Connecting us with the past and the future. The volcanic land has an incomprehensible spirit.
